Congrats to Arkansas WRCs that Won Economic Development Grants December 12, 2024

Arkansas Tops South Central State Rankings April 17, 2024

Site Selection magazine, a key publication for the economic development industry, ranked Arkansas No. 1 in its region for workforce development. Arkansas moved from second to first regionally in the South Central Region, which includes AL, KY, OK, LA, MS, TN, and TX. The Natural State has 51 counties participating in Work Ready Communities with more than 12 hundred supporting employers.

The new tool helps users set understand the skills they need to acquire to meet career and life goals. The currently employed can browse industry or other training while prospective hires can become familiar with a new field before applying to a position.

  • Rural Health Association, Decaturville, TN, $149k:  Pre-apprenticeships for nuring aids and assistants; 500 workers
  • theCO, Jackson, TN, $77k:  Dev Catalyst Alumni Program in computer science, web development, and data management; 1,800 workers
  • Griot Arts, Clarksdale, MS, $127k:  Internship-to-Job Pipeline; 35 workers
  • Research Park Corporation, Baton Rouge, LA, $150k:  Expands Apprenti Louisiana to 57 parishes; 48 workers
  • Nicholls State University, Thibodaux, LA, $150k:  Boost cybersecurity knowledge to re-employ workers displaced in cybersecurity/cyberdefense
  • University of Holy Cross/Delgado Community College, New Orleans, LA, $150k: Bachelor degree completion in Culinology; 10 workers
