Guam Community College will celebrate the 19 completers of its most recent Ship Repair Bootcamp. Sector components included Auto Body Paint (Paint Preservation) and Intro to Diesel Technology & Preventative Maintenance I. Additional training and certification in Heartsaver First Aid, CPR & AED, ACT WorkKeys NCRC, Work Ethics, and OSHA 10 were also successfully completed.
Guam Community College announces open registration for its upcoming Construction Boot Camp IV. Boot camp participants will take courses in carpentry, masonry, and electricity with additional certifications in WorkKeys®, Work Ethic, OHSA-10, and Heartsaver/CPR/First-Aid. Black Construction will offer employment to participants who successfully complete the boot camp.
The Medical Home Health Aide (Caregiver) boot camp includes four credentials stacked with the ACT WorkKeys National Career Readiness Certificate.
Completers may also transition into the GCC Allied Health program and earn an Associate of Science or Certificate in Medical Assisting, an Associate of Science in Practical Nursing, Certified Nursing Assistant and Emergency Medical Technician (EMT).
Guam Community College (GCC) is now accepting Platinum and Gold level ACT WorkKeys® National Career Readiness Certificates (NCRC) as evidence of college-level readiness in Math and English. Students who achieve Platinum and Gold can enroll in GCC’s MA110A – Finite Mathematics and EN110 Freshman Composition without having to take the placement exam. GCC joins a growing list of colleges and universities throughout the U.S. that accept WorkKeys® NCRC to fulfill college entrance requirements and can provide an advantage when registering for college-level courses.
Eighteen boot camp students studying ship repair graduated from the Guam Community College pre-apprenticeship program Friday. As part of the boot camp, graduates were certified in CPR/basic life support, general safety and health hazards for entry-level workers, as well as WorkKeys, a national career readiness certificate. GCC also announced its second boot camp on truck driving will complete in seven weeks.
