Horizon Goodwill Industries GetOnBoard! job readiness program partnered with Hagerstown Community College and Allegany College of Maryland in Cumberland, MD, and Hagerstown, MD to prepare Get Onboard! Participants to earn their National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC) and improve their chances at obtaining better career opportunities. These services will be available at no cost to the participant. As the program continues HGI, HCC and ACM will be able to analyze the data from the students that graduate with the NCRC credentialing to see if it contributes to the community's overall advancement to offer a workforce that is well-educated and trained.
Hagerstown Community College President Jim Klauber will be closely watching a handful of proposals during the upcoming Maryland General Assembly session, which begins Wednesday in Annapolis. Klauber has requested support from local legislators for a pilot program to get Washington County certified as a Work Ready Community through ACT’s WorkKeys program.
