Cooper and Moniteau Counties Celebrate Work Ready Community Recognition February 06, 2025

Moniteau Presiding Commissioner Joe Lutz and 2nd District Commissioner Jerry Volkart recently accepted the Work Ready Community Award on behalf of Moniteau County. In Cooper County, Presiding Commissioner George Monk, Eastern District Commissioner Charlie Melkersman, and Western District Commissioner Danny Larm accepted the award for their county’s accomplishments.

The Show Me State Excels in Work Ready Communities October 30, 2024

The Missouri Department of Higher Education & Workforce Development (MDHEWD) was recently recognized at the ACT Workforce Summit in Atlanta, Georgia for having 13 counties maintaining or achieving their Certified Work Ready Community status in the past year.

Missouri currently leads the nation with a total of 99 Certified Work Ready Communities and 112 communities that are participating and working towards certification.

Moniteau Opens 2022 with Optimism on WRC January 26, 2022

MRED President Mike Kelley said organization's goal is to guide new business owners as they work to establish themselves in the community. Kelley said he has been working with the state of Missouri to re-establish Moniteau County's Work Ready Community program. He said the county is still 14 workers short of receiving their National Career Readiness certificate. However, MRED will be working with local schools over the next several months in order to get students their certification and prepared for the program.

Residents will earn $11 an hour while participating in Rolla Job Center's new virtual program August 17, 2021

Rolla job seekers between the ages of 14-24 now have the opportunity to gain virtual work experience through The Career Club. Individuals will earn $11 an hour while participating in the virtual training and transition to a minimum wage of $12 an hour following work experience placement.

Finding a job to support themselves is one of the keys to ex-offenders not returning to Missouri's prisons.

So, the Moniteau County Regional Economic Development (MRED) board jumped at the opportunity to work with the Missouri Re-entry Process through the Department of Corrections
