The Show Me State Excels in Work Ready Communities October 30, 2024

The Missouri Department of Higher Education & Workforce Development (MDHEWD) was recently recognized at the ACT Workforce Summit in Atlanta, Georgia for having 13 counties maintaining or achieving their Certified Work Ready Community status in the past year.

Missouri currently leads the nation with a total of 99 Certified Work Ready Communities and 112 communities that are participating and working towards certification.

Missouri's newest WRC lands soybean processor May 18, 2022

Cargill, a global leader in food production and agricultural services, announced today that it will build a new soybean processing facility near Caruthersville in Pemiscot County. When complete, the new facility will be one of Cargill’s largest soy processing facilities in North America and create 45 new high-paying jobs in the region. Pemiscot celebrated its WRC achievement in a recent ceremony with Gov. Parson.

Missouri Partnership: Four Counties Earn Work Ready Status April 14, 2022

Four Missouri counties have earned Certified Work Ready Community status. This ACT designation program that recognizes successful efforts by community, education and business leaders to strengthen workforce training and development in order to meet the economic development needs of their communities. Laclede, Morgan, Howard, and Pemiscot counties each recently earned the designation.

Governor Mike Parson, Lt. Governor Mike Kehoe, Senator Jason Bean, Representative Don Rone, Representative Andrew McDaniel, city and county officials, business leaders and the community at large gathered at an event in Caruthersville, MO, yesterday in which Governor Parson declared Pemiscot County a Certified Work Ready Community.

Delta Regional Authority Awards Grants for Economic Recovery November 30, 2020

Delta Regional Authority announce awards for the Workforce Opportunity for Rural Communities (WORC) initiative to support workforce training and education in rural communities.  ACT congratulates the grantees in their awards and applauds their innovative solutions.

  • Southeast Arkansas College, $130k:  Establish certificate program for Supply Chain Technology; train 45 workers
  • Restore Hope, Little Rock, AR, $130k:  Recovery-to-Work program in metal fabrication sector for individuals affected by substance abuse disorder; 16 workers
  • Delta Area Economic Opportunity Corporation, Portageville, MO, $150k:  Agri-biz work-based learning; train 50 workers
  • Missouri State University, West Plains, MO, $95k:  Robotics training; 50-75 workers
  • ProGeny Place, Memphis, TN, $102k:  Food-based manufacturing and distribution certificates for victims of domestic violence; 20 workers
  • Rural Health Association, Decaturville, TN, $149k:  Pre-apprenticeships for nuring aids and assistants; 500 workers
  • theCO, Jackson, TN, $77k:  Dev Catalyst Alumni Program in computer science, web development, and data management; 1,800 workers
  • Griot Arts, Clarksdale, MS, $127k:  Internship-to-Job Pipeline; 35 workers
  • Research Park Corporation, Baton Rouge, LA, $150k:  Expands Apprenti Louisiana to 57 parishes; 48 workers
  • Nicholls State University, Thibodaux, LA, $150k:  Boost cybersecurity knowledge to re-employ workers displaced in cybersecurity/cyberdefense
  • University of Holy Cross/Delgado Community College, New Orleans, LA, $150k: Bachelor degree completion in Culinology; 10 workers
