The Work Ready Communities throughout the First Tenneessee Development District have a solid leadership group that also joined forces to reduce opioid addiction in their region. Now the U.S. Department of Labor's WorkforceGPS plans to showcase this work in an upcoming online event planned for May 31st.

CHARLOTTE, North Carolina — Hawkins County was recognized for its workforce development achievements over the past year at the ACT Workforce Summit in Charlotte, N.C. on Tuesday, Oct. 29, along with 48 other participating ACT Work Ready Communities.
Northeast Tennessee is one of the hot spots in terms of prescription drug abuse, NAS births, and overdose deaths. The region also suffers from an unhealthy workforce, in large part due to addiction.
