“I think the Work Ready certification demonstrated something we here in the Golden Triangle are particularly good at: Teamwork around an initiative,” noted Macaulay Whitaker, COO. “We had to have everybody involved to make it work: The LINK, EMCC, community leaders, county and city government and the high schools. Establishing WorkKeys as a tool at every level was a big part of that.”
This year’s South Monroe County Community Fund grants will help provide for a number of areas, ranging from dash cams and vests for law enforcement to ACT and WorkKeys opportunities for students.
WorkReadyNH graduates come from all walks of life and are committed to their professional growth. Credentials come from the Community College System of New Hampshire alongside the ACT WorkKeys National Career Readiness Certificate.
Site Selection Magazine's Prosperity Cup recognizes state-level economic development agency success based on a 10-point index of criteria based largely on capital investment project activity the previous calendar year. WTVQ/ABC-36 showcased Kentucky's rankings in the 2021 Prosperity Cup from Site Selection magazine. KY's growth in National Career Readiness Certificates joined other business climate and investment volume to improve its position.
By 2026, four-year cohort graduation rates will increase to meet or exceed 93% and 75% of all graduates will have received a minimum of two post-secondary credits or earn a silver or higher on the ACT WorkKeys assessment.
“The leadership in the community has to be such where we recognize that workforce skills is a key component of economic development in today’s economy. Becoming an ACT Work Ready Community will help aid in our efforts as we work with the Chamber to continue to develop and maintain a skilled workforce here in Monroe County,” noted Monroe County Board of Supervisors President Joseph Richardson.
Southern Indiana Works and partners Ivy Tech, One Southern Indiana, and Prosser Career Education Center are launching the Southern Indiana Advanced Manufacturing Pipeline initiative. These skills are validated by the ACT WorkKeys exam. After the WorkKeys National Career Readiness certificate, candidates will enter a short-term certification course that will result in becoming a Certified Production Technician (MSSC CPT+ Skill Boss), providing them with a number of manufacturing essential skills.
More than 30 graduates of the Wallace State Community College Adult Education program will walk across the stage on Thursday, June 3, 2021, to mark their success at receiving their GED. The Adult Education program also offers classes in Manufacturing Skill Standards Council (MSSC), Phlebotomy, OSHA, WorkKeys Certification, Ready to Work and more. Adult Education’s efforts to assist students fall in line with AL Gov. Kay Ivey’s Success Plus Initiative.
"Miller County is excited to partner with the Texarkana USA Regional Chamber of Commerce to launch ACT Work Ready Communities initiatives that use the ACT WorkKeys NCRC as the basis for industry-driven efforts that link education, workforce and economic development," Miller County Judge Cathy Harrison said.
