ACT launches new Ready for Work podcast April 18, 2019

The Ready for Work podcast showcases the best and brightest in workforce development and career
education.  Powered by ACT’s mission of education and workplace success, the podcast equips stakeholders of the workforce ecosystem with trends, innovation, and action steps to help maximize the workforce. 

Launched in April 2019, the podcast’s interview format features promising practices in the field and  subject matter experts.  Bi-monthly episodes run 14-20 minutes.  Future content includes coverage of key conferences and events, such as the ACT Workforce Summit. 

Episode 1 features the Role of Economic Development in the Local Workforce Ecosystem and an interview with Will Coppage of the Washington County, MS Economic Alliance.

Cleveland County Gains Work Ready Status from ACT March 29, 2019

Cleveland County is set to become the second county in Southeast Arkansas to become an ACT Work Ready Community, Craig Dupuy, superintendent of the Cleveland County School District announced this week.

Becoming an ACT Work Ready Community works in two ways, Dupuy said: first, it gives businesses/employers an idea of what skill sets potential workers have in a particular area; and second, it allows students/workers an opportunity to earn an ACT National Work Ready Certificate (NWRC) that is recognized by more than 10,000 employers nationwide.

Siegel High ACT WorkKeys Awards March 19, 2019

Siegel High School recently honored 139 students who earned the "ACT WorkKeys National Career Readiness Certificate" (ACT WorkKeys NCRC®), an assessment which measures and certifies the essential work skills needed for success in jobs across industries and occupations.

The assessments help both students and employers measure the workplace skills that can affect one's job performance including Applied Math, Graphic Literacy, and Workplace Documents.

The National Career Readiness Certificate provides an opportunity for high school students to receive college credit.

Rutherford County is working to become an ACT Work Ready Community, which is a community-based workforce development process that aligns and matches the county's workforce development efforts to the needs of business and industry -- certifying a skilled workforce.
