Mesa county is the first county in Colorado to become Work Ready, a nationwide program backed by the same ACT organization testing High Schooler Students before graduation. The idea is similar-- the organization tests job seekers on skills in reading, math and locating information. Workers are then ranked bronze through platinum.....

Juniors take the ACT and WorkKeys tests in the spring. The tests, which assess a students readiness for college or a career, are required under a 2014 law and announced each fall.

An announcement on Monday indicated seven Northeast Tennessee counties will be joining Sullivan County in a quest to close the skills gap in the region. Washington County Mayor Dan Eldridge announced the regional initiative for the counties to attain the ACT Work Ready Communities designation.

All 46 South Carolina counties have met the workforce and education goals required to be fully certified as work ready.
